We are a family run yard that has been producing and competing horses for over 15 years. Our primary goal has always been dedicated to the welfare the horses; we believe horses must be happy and healthy to reach their potential. With this at the forefront, we work tirelessly for the future success of our own, and our clients, horses. We compete in all disciplines of equestrian sport, with a primary focus currently on dressage and eventing.
As a family we are still relatively new to the world of horses. Gisella Kneen, the initial driving force of the equine obsession,bought her first horse at the age of 35, after a lifetime of longing. Once she had the eventing bug her children quickly followed suit, taking part in Pony Club activities with ponies handed down through the siblings. As they grew up it was clear Alice and Katie, the two youngest children, were becoming seriously invested in what had previously been a hobby. As their ambition and skills grew the world of national and international competition became accessible. Both had great success, with national wins and team successes on ponies that had been regarded by others as impossible to train, ride or both!
After their success on ponies, Katie and Alice continued to aim for the higher levels. Both had great success on their brothers retired show jumper, turned eventer, competing at Intermediate/2 star level for Junior and JRN teams. However, they struggled to source talented young horses to produce up the levels. The decision was made to start a breeding program in 2008 and since then Springtime Equestrian has been breeding top quality young stock. They have been carefully produced in whatever discipline suits the individual horse.
With three vets in the family we produce horses with a greater knowledge of equine science and sports medicine, allowing us to keep our athletes fit and healthy. Attention to detail is the backbone of our management, in every aspect of each horses care. With our breeding program now in place, we are establishing a string of top quality of horses with great ambitions for further international success.
